Children's Faith Formation
St. Joseph’s CHILDREN’S faith formation (Catechism) includes four main components:

Children meet in person at parish classes at the Hall from 3:30pm – 5pm Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday (days chosen during enrollment): CALENDAR

St. Joseph’s faith formation includes regular Mass participation at St. Joseph's.

Families are also to complete faith formation online courses together each sacrament reception year (e.g., Reconciliation, Communion, Confirmation).

A final discernment meeting with the family and pastor will be scheduled during the child / teen’s sacrament reception year.

PARENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The Bishops' Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth and the Safe Environment Policies of the Diocese of Stockton require that all children in our schools and religious education programs be given Safe Environment training that is age-appropriate and in accord with Catholic moral principles. The Diocese of Stockton provides this training through the Circle of Grace curriculum. For those parishes that are offering home catechesis, parents will be teaching the assigned lessons during the Fall.

Lesson Materials
The files below are helpful, Diocese-approved materials to help you teach Circle of Grace to your children at various grade levels (K - 6). There are English (ENG) and Spanish (ESP) versions of each.
Children should be dressed appropriately for this holy sacrament:
Girls in a modest dress (white with a veil optional)

Gloves are not necessary.

Please no high heels (we do not want the girls to slip!)
Boys in a dress suit or dark dress slacks and a white dress shirt

No Jeans
-
No T-Shirts
-
No Street Shoes
ON THE DAY OF FIRST COMMUNION

A picture will be taken of your child receiving Our Lord in the Eucharist for the first time and made available to parents at no cost.

No personal photography is allowed in the church.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for children takes place on the first Friday of each month from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Confessions are available, and the entire family is welcome.
Joseph's Juniors
On the fourth Saturday of each month from 9am-12pm, children will learn more about our Bible, saints, devotions, and have a special Mass with lots of fun, activities, and fellowship in between. This is an enrichment and fellowship opportunity for your children so that they can grow like Jesus!
Vacation Bible Retreat
Every summer St. Joseph’s offers Vacation Bible Retreat - a faith based retreat for children in grades K-6 where learning and growing in the faith is presented and encouraged through activities, lessons, and by example in a fun atmosphere.
